@Simon,

Kir - I respect you as a thinker.

Thank you ... I think. That was really cryptic. So in what way do you not respect me? ;-)

@Kirsten - that's how I read it, too.

I'd also like to say that I am not a woman that likes to dress provocatively or in a way that garners extreme sexual allure from men; I don't like to be viewed purely as a sexual object, so I do not act or dress that way. I would like for people to be interested in me for my mind first... Hahaha though that is a lot to ask! Being a woman, I can safely say that most men do NOT approach me because they're expecting or wanting good conversation. This makes me very sad, but I digress.

I am very aware there are many, many women who behave and dress in a sexual way, and want to be perceived as objects of desire by men. I live in Miami Beach! I don't agree with this mentality, as I want more from my life than to be lusted after, but I'm not going to say that these girls are asking to be raped.

Now, the ladies that go out to clubs and wear practically nothing and get destroyed on alcohol and drugs and go home with random strangers... that behavior is screaming for trouble, and I think this is where the major grey area comes into play. Who's to say that the girl messed up on molly who hooked up with a club promoter was raped, after she was grinding on him all night and went home with him afterwards, but woke up the next morning thinking, "What have I done?"

I definitely think there are things that can be done to reduce your chances of being raped... but who can say for sure? A woman can be forced into her own car by gunpoint, in broad daylight, in a mall parking lot.

Sorry Kir, misunderstanding, also, logical error.  I respect everyone, and in particular I respect your mind.  Being a human being though, I can see how that was cryptic.  And yes, it is a massive complement.

This debate rumbles on and on and on and on.  Basically the answer is, don't rape.

Thanks for explaining, Kir.  I'm not really much good at quoting lines from films, I tend to forget a film after I've seen it.  Makes repeats less tedious, mind you.  I still like the idea of you being the atheistest atheist in atheistdom, though.  Oh, well.

Should I mention the lesbian rapes?  The ones that take place when guys try to rape them straight?  I believe it's called "Corrective rape"   Or perhaps I should leave that for another day.... (incidentally, I have it on good authority that it doesn't work)

@Simon, well you know Simon, I'm not really a human being myself. I'm a kitty cat who gets online when my human rommate is out. But I do have similar feelings. And thanks, that was very nice.

@Kirsten,

We kind of touched on this earlier in the thread but its worth elaborating if it will get us off the topic of pedophilia. I think the distinction was well made (by somebody) that while a man or a woman can make bad safety choices, it has nothing to do with blame or liability. If I leave my house unlocked and someone robs it, the robber is still the robber. So, a rapist is still a rapist, regardless of how a man or woman dresses or whatever other precautions they do or do not take, imo.

As for the digression, yea, I hear this complaint a lot and that is sad.

@Strega, no worries. Yea, the guy in that movie was a weatherman or something and he went to a party and tried to pick up a girl. The first thing he did was he kind of leaned over and whispered, "well, you know, I'm kind of a big deal". It was a riot. He was a total schmuck.

atheistest atheist in atheistdom

I like that, and it might be true. I'm the anti-poser, which is why posers are scared to talk to me ;-)

I believe it's called Corrective rape

omg, that's horrible. Yea, I'd bet it doesn't work at all. But it sure is hateful.

@Simon, I hate to do this to you, but in this instance "complement" is spelled, "compliment", just so you know.
