Why do you think they want prayer in schools?

I think we can also ask:

what would Buddha do?

what would Jesus do?

what would Mohammed do?

what would [skipping centuries] Nelson Mandela do?

what would Bob Marley [who was a great man] do?

what would Judge Judy do?

"on the topic of empathy, do you think that the character of Jesus has a lot of empathic traits or not?"

Superman, from DC Comics would actually be a better example, and just as real and verifiable - at least Kal-El deals with problems as they are, helps everyone in need, and doesn't promise life after death.

The problem with the jesus of the bible, he is moody, vengeful and vitriolic.

There is so much in the bible that is hatred, and I would not want my children, to read, supposedly, how god loves them, jesus loves you, and then carry on murdering people. Not my idea of love.

Revelation 2:22-23 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Tad judgmental, don't you think - do whores also have immaculate conceptions - what is a whore - and, as usual, punish the innocent - and kill the children - the misogyny and hatred of women abound. But, as usual, there are also quotes in the bible to cover anything bad - cherry picking at it's finest. I would not trust anything that contradicts itself. But, this is how the bible works, this is how religion works.

Here's your song, Paynton:

"how do you teach Judge Judy to a baby?"  - probably by being an empathetic person yourself?  I haven't got kids.  Correcting them when they show unempathetic behaviour.  There is a programme in Canadian schools where a mother and baby come into class and the kids interact with and observe the baby, and this teaches them empathy.

There are things we can say:  "how would you like it?"  &  "put yourself in their shoes" or "think what it's like for that person.  How would you feel?"  since empathy is all about feeling someone else's pain - literally.

"I haven't got kids."

The roar you hear is the world, voicing their relief!

Eventually, sometimes, after a few beers at a bar and no women around, one guy will start with the "all women are whores" routine. We feel superior for a hour or so and then back home to the reality. Good men know that men are not superior, but good men did not write the Bible.

@RobertPiano - The man who understands women - self-assured, confident - gets the women - inadequate males are the ones who put women down, and that is what the bible is all about. As you say, blokes like to brag etc. but that is men :)

The programme in Canadian schools - mother and baby etc - this is also to help stop teenage pregnancy, how hard it is to look after a baby, when a girl is just too young, and a baby herself. It is a reality check on responsibility, and not a puppy.
