As a side note, I saw your exact example above occur when I was in the bar business.  A rather intoxicated, whiter than white individual walked up to a coworker of mine and threw out the "What's up, my nigga" line.  It was the white people nearby that reacted with offense and indignity.  My coworker and his friend simply shook their heads in amusement, made an offhand remark about the guy being a bit clueless, and did a shot with the guy since he was buying.

Looking at your profile, it says you are in Iowa. I must say that as a northern state, assuming that it happened there since you named no other location, the culture in which that situation took place was considerably different from where most of my experience comes from, which is Mississippi, in the deep south. There you are likely to be shot if you try that in the ghetto. And for me, had I come out of the closet there, I could have been shot also, as both sides there have no love for homosexuals.

Don't attack me for stating the obvious. I'm not claiming that white people are the only perveyers  of atrocities in the world, it's just that we are the most recent in the spot light of such, with the KKK, the Nazis, the Stalin regime, the Westborro Baptist Cult, the Tea Party, etc. All of these detestable organizations are all white on the face of them, and white people, when dealing with matters of race, need to space themselves away from people like this. It's the only way that I see to heal the rift between race cultures.

So you can either not play race politics like normal people and just be respectful and respectable, or, if you find yourself in that sort of situation, you can be apologetic. Because if you are seen to relate to misguided zealots like Rush, then you only make the problem worse.

You actually put the Tea Party on a par with Stalin and the Nazis?

Holy shit, man, get some perspective.

@H3XX

What atrocities have the Tea Party committed that makes them worthy of mention in the same sentence w/ Hitler & Stalin?

Steve was right, you're perspective is a little lot skewed.

@H3xx

I've lived around the midwest, east coast, europe, and spent a year in Hancock county, Mississippi.  Not that has any bearing on the conversation.

I agree with Steve and Ed that lumping the Tea Party in with Hitler/Stalin is stretching things more than a bit.  I would add that including WBC is a stretch.  WBC/Tea Party members are simply loud-mouthed, fringe idealogues who rail against 'the system', and have more in common with the Social Justice Warrior movement in that they are predominantly white, middle classed, American, and politicall inept.  The only reason the Tea Party gained any traction is because they were coopted by the Kochs.

They wore tri-corner hats with tea bags hanging from them, thereby flaunting their tri-corner tea bag hat privilege, which is like genocide because, patriarchy.
