It's true that there are more statues of Generals, than of humanitarians, but part of that is that we believe that Generals protect us from the enemy de jour, and another part, is that Generals are more likely to require them, than humanitarians. The Einsteins, Curies, Kings and Ghandi's get their due as well, but that more likely comes in the form of the printed word, rather than marble.
I think it's a sure thing that in my lifetime there won't be any statues of whistleblowers or any others that defend our rights and/or call for justice.
Sometimes we get it right.
Lincoln??? Lincoln commanded a war. A very violent war.
More Americans died in Lincoln's Civil War than in any other war we've been involved in. As for the original post, that just someone's attitude, not a fact.
I'm not clear as to why you would call it, "Lincolon's Civil War," as I recall, he wasn't in it alone, nor did he fire the first shot.
Which President do we associate with the war? Which President presided over it?
This makes me wish Star Trek was real...
