BTW, how would you keep a woman quiet?

My teenage daughter hardly says anything to me, I wish she'd talk more, she used to be such a chatterbox when she was little.

Don't worry Warren, that will change. Right now she is blossoming and probably somewhat embarrassed to talk with her dad. I remember when I was 16 convos with my Dad were as follows:

Dad: how was your day?
Me: fine

......Uncomfortable silence.....

Last night I chattered away to my Dad for 2 hours straight!!!!! I am SO a Daddy's girl it's not even funny!!!

She'll likely start opening up again when she hits college. Keep telling her interesting stories. My Dad would always (and still does) tell me random history facts etc. We just talked for example about the Kennedy assasination 50 year anniversary coming this month. Keep telling her stuff even if she rolls her eyes and sighs or acts disinterested. She still loves you ;)

I was the mother in our family in some ways. For example, when my daughter's sex life was beginning, she came to ME for advice on birth control. I gave her good advice but told her that she really could talk to her mother about it. I think she was afraid that her mom, a German who could be rather serious and stern, would be mad at her. As I expected, her mother was just glad that our daughter was willing to talk to us about something a lot of teen girls treat as a secret.
