This is what happens when you let religion take over your women

This makes me really angry.

As well it should.

I understand there are places in Europe now where non-Muslim women find it prudent to be "covered".  It doesn't take established sharia "Law," just common thuggery to get women into those fucking space suits.

Oh, the claim is that men, on seeing a femaie form, will go nucking futs over it and sin.  Which is riculous especially when it's eyes or hair or an ankle that's in question.

So it's just as sexist the other direction too, even if women end up taking the brunt of the alleged solution to the alleged problem of males going on a sin rampage at the sight of a really, really, hot ankle.

On the other hand, in societies like that, often the guy who is banging your wife behind your back will arrive at your house in a burqa, so no one will be the wiser about who is visiting her.  So imposing this sort of dress on women is sometimes its own punishment.

My question, Sophie, is why has there been no rebellion on the part of the women? Is life as a slave so precious to them that they would rather live it in any form?

e.e. cummings once wrote, "There is some shit I will not eat."

There's some "rebellion" in the more developed regions (not that even those are developed enough to have a waste management system). Surprisingly, some really rural places where the Taliban don't have influence are actually pretty lenient-- they kind of just don't care. But that's only because they're not being watched. Once Islam peers around the corner, it's all oppressive tradition. And given Islam's prominence in these regions, that's the majority of the population.

After a few hours at a nude beach years ago, I found that it only takes about 2.5 hrs to go from a prudist to a nudist. More for some less than others I expect. It seems to be about facing your fears, getting over the novelty, and to find some level of appreciation without reduction to an object.

While some people are less than artsy nude, others are truely works of art.

@James - it took THAT long?!!
