governments print money, not banks. Granted governments then just hand that money over to the banks who then keep it and mark it up on the profit sheet thus increasing their own share price. All this at the expense of the tax payer who basically paid for that printed money and at the expense of savers and pensions whose value of saving and pensions drop as a result of increasing the money supply (M3) because it is devaluing savings. I would get religions to print atheist money, imagine how that would stick in their throats !

Duh, but sadly I did not make my post very clear, sorry. I was more sarcastic, with limited attention to detail. Given the recent banking/moregage screwup(s), I was attempting to suggest that a disclaimer/reminder printed on the money, while not changing its 'value', would bring attention to a related constitutional issue of church/state separation. The fed would look at the attempt as a minor offence, but many of the rest of us might support the move as a way for the banks to do penance in place of, or addition to, fines and imprisonment.

Money marked as such, does not become 'atheist money, but only money sanitized for constitutional aggreement. As long as I can buy crap with the buck, I would be ok with it. Money not marked with the message could become collectors items in time, and become grounds for the next cycle of defacement by theists! In the worst of all possible futures, our paper money being unrecognizable from dirty soiled scrap paper, finishing the job...
