Like a bully, they want to have the say in everything.
Only spiritual marriage.
Bad logic - Because even if they DID invent it, doesn't give them the right to define it.
It's worth noting that 33 states have restricted marriage to same-sex couples only, which was done by changing state constitutions over the last 20 years. Marriage equality had been permissible under existing laws, in some cases for centuries, until Christians took it away. If not, then why did so many constitutions-- as foundational statements of human rights-- require alteration?
Christians have, in fact, redefined marriage, and falsely attack supporters of marriage equality for doing what Christians have actually done, in Orwellian fashion.
Yep, the Catholic church has even married same sex couples a few times in the past. It just wasn't an issue in differnet times. The obsession with m/f marriage might be more of response to lgbt visibility. I dunno?
Isn't marriage (wedding) based on a pagan celebration?
Christianity is guilty of adopting many pagan practices into it's ceremonies. Pagan symbolism is rampant in catholicism with the largest obelisk (origin- Sun god Ra) I have ever gazed upon placed upon the back wall inside St Paul's cavernous cathedral in Rome. Swoping rings is grounded in paganism.
According to the Bible a marriage is defined as being between one man and his wives, concubines, and slave girls. Plus family members is fair game too as Lott demonstrated.....
