Onward Christian Soldiers, eh?  Good thing nobody had invented weapons of mass destruction in those times.  However, it's a little difficult to pin those atrocities on today's Christians.  It would be a bit like blaming a German today for Nazi behaviour in WWII.  Are there not better examples, in terms of current inappropriate behaviour (other than priestly pedophiles, please)?

Yes, well everyone knows if you rearrange the letters that spell JESUS you get EMPATHY-MAN.

its a formula that I believe provides some type of remedy for the basic human psyche.

Why do you believe this?  Can you clarify at least some elements of this formula?

Islam also has ritualisation, ceremony and bestowment.  What differentiates Christianity (other than the god entity's name)?

As I understand it, empathy is learned when the baby bonds with a consistent single care-giver.  (Sorry for clinical language.)  Then this same circuit is used for achieving empathy with people in general.  If a young child fails to be bonded with a single caregiver, psychopathy results - a complete lack of empathy.  Do you know someone who uses people, treats others like objects?  They most likely had a disrupted bonding process.  For more information, see this brilliant book:  “Born for Love – why empathy is essential – and endangered” by Bruce D Perry and Maia Szalavitz.
