That poster gives us the "short" version of the bible The "long: version included somewhere between  31,102 to 31,109 scriptures and somewhere around 1,200 pages, plus or minus about 500 which can be found without any accuracy whatsoever capable of proving the bible completely and exactly correct on all points, or completely irreverent, depending on how sane and logical, drunk and couldn't care less, or insane you might happen to be.

Using that book, one can possibly derive any possibility.  Just depends on your logic, drunkenness or your level of insanity, whose finger is pointing, and whose voice is behind that finger.   If it's yours, point it at the book and laugh.  Then we know you're sane and logical... but likely to have a huge battle on your hands in the near future.

@John Cook - What specific battle are your referring to?

I've seen you post pretty often as I'm sure you've seen mine.  I'm on the front lines ready for the battle.  BRING IT ON!  :-)

I was watching an SVU today where they were portraying a couple of hard-core born-again-ers as the nutbags that those people can be and I realized it is SO nice that more and more TV shows are jumping on the "why do we let these people get away with this shit?" band wagon.  Religion is becoming less and less of a subject that is above reproach, I think that is evident by the TV shows that are not portraying xians as the "pillars of the community", but rather the pompous, self-righteous children that they can be.  I think we are already well within the battle and we are making headway every single day.

The most annoying thing about having a conversation with a snake is that they don’t have any ears so you never know if they can hear you. All that hissing is bad manners. I don’t suppose any theist will suggest that snakes had ears back 6000 years ago and that they have “evolved” them away?

@Reg, don't tell the snake charmers with their little flutes and raffia snake-baskets. Wouldn't that just burst the magic bubble.

Hi Strega - a serpent is a major part of my next tattoo (Jan 18th) with the double helix and tree of life!! I will post a pic then.

Most of the bible thumpers refer to god ripping off the serpent's legs, so it has to crawl on its belly from then punish it for being possessed by satan.

Maybe the ears came off with the legs, the way grasshoppers are built, etc. :)

Probably also ripped off the genes that code for ears and legs too, from its DNA, so its progeny had no legs or ears either.

And the genes for talking....

and vocal structures needed to produce sssstructured ssssssounds.

And, yet, blessed the poor disfigured 'lil beast with the ability to fnd love after all this, and produce disfigured offspring.

The eternal problem with writing is words are unchanging and cannot adapt. Only the person reading then writing the words can evolve the message for modern times. Adhering to ancient laws is ignorant, but we know there are as much truth in the Bible as in Aesop's Fables. They are moral examples and every reader has their own moral understanding. As long as we all agree to be as peaceful as possible, we get to improve and move forward.
