You should take that piece of paper, put it up with your own note saying something like "Written By A Perfect Christian" or something along those lines.

I hope you called the police to have them collect the evidence and pressed charges. If you haven't touched it yet, there should be plenty of fingerprints on it that you can have the culprit arrested and charged. By having everyone at the church fingerprinted you will also raise the awareness that death threats are taken very seriously, and call the local newspapers and run the story. If there's any chance of putting up a surveillance video camera that covers that flag-pole you might even catch them doing it again, and be able to nail the culprit without having to spend too much time in court.

You can't reason with people like this. It's a shame they're going to be like this their whole lives and there's nothing you can do. Personally I'd like to light them all on fire.

I would love to say that you should retaliate and burn down their church but the best part about being an atheist is that you really are better than them. I agree with Andrew Bergstrom though and say it is best to be the "bigger man" and handle this the legal way. If that doesn't work at least you can smile in the fact that when they die they won't go to heaven cause it isn't real... Oh and someone who can't spell their own insults is probably to stupid to even worry about!

Why can't angry Christians ever spell? Do they get too riled up to remember the basic rules of grammar?

And the irony! Where's the Christian love and acceptance?
