Wow.  I would like nothing more than to leave religion alone and be left alone by it.  Ironically, I try to turn the other cheek as much as I can.  The number of times I can turn my cheek is finite, however.

When should we speak up?  When should we be righteously indignant?  Is it when our children have to say the Lord's Prayer in school under fear of punishment?  Is it when intelligent design is taught right alongside the theory of evolution in science classes?  Should we be concerned when our President says we are not really citizens?  

How many times should any one of us have to hear statements like, "You are just being stubborn." or "You are going to rot in Hell."  What about "The U.S. is a Christian nation?"  should we object to that?  I hear that one often from Christians in my life.  

Your statement that "atheism sucks" is rather like saying "being human sucks."  I did not choose to be an atheist - I just am one.  In my heart, during my darkest hours when I could have reached  out to some alleged deity, I found not one shred of belief that one exists.  Sometimes being an atheist does suck!  

I really go out of my way to not be angry at Christianity or Christians, but sometimes enough is enough.  Many times too much is enough.

The only disappointment you should have felt was that you were deluding yourself in order to hang on to those bronze age beliefs.  It’s sounds like maybe you had a moment when the reason and logic you may have been born with, was trying to raise it’s head after being smothered in your religious indoctrination, but as with most I would have to guess that fear and the need to have all the answers in a nut shell prevented you from evolving out of that religious mindset.

Seriously, why don’t you just share your ignorant religious mindset with the world – You are living proof of the damage that’s done to a brain when it is deluded with religion. How can, what I assume to be an otherwise functional brain, make such a stereo typed misrepresentation of a non believer?  Are you really that far gone?

Let me enlighten you to a little reality. Some of the most loving, caring, people I know don’t believe in any god. They go out of their way to help others and do what right and good because they are the right and good things to do, not because they are threatened with burning in a fiery pit called hell for all eternity, I would guess without this God of yours you could make no such claim, so by all means please keep your delusions, fear, gullibility, naivety, ignorance, arrogance, stupidity, or whatever else keeps you in line and a menace from society.

Just keep in mind there are people that stand on their own two feet and face life and death and everything in between without out praising some monster you call god, and are very happy living in a world of reality.

You do realize, don’t you, that this has nothing to do with religiosity. This is a function of the blog.  Even many xian blogs require a registration process.

No, the problem we have is religiots thinking that they are so self-righteous that they deserve to enslave those of us that can think for ourselves under their delusional superstition.

Actually, you have that backward.  It is the xians that are trying to drag us into the dark ages, thinking we should all live by the standards of a book written by goat herders who had no knowledge of the reality of our world and out universe, where it is people who don’t buy into childish superstitions that drive our society forward into the future.

Nor can they prove the non-existence of Santa, the Easter Bunny, and leprechauns.  The point is not about what can be proven to not exist.  The point is that, if you make a claim, especially an extraordinary claim, the burden of proof is on you.  However, that being said, many of us have proved over and over again that the xian belief system is most assuredly false.  It contains contradictions, inconsistencies, and logical fallacies some of which can only be justified by adding a massive amount of “god-magic”, but most of which that just can’t be explained away at all.

What this means is that, even though you “claimed” to be atheist, you really weren’t.  You have always adhered to your delusional superstition.  Those of us who truly are atheist are so because there just isn’t any evidence that god exists.  We can’t be “mad” or “disappointed” with god any more than we can be mad that Santa didn’t bring us what we wanted for xmas.  Just because you have always viewed the evidence for religion emotionally, doesn’t mean the rest of us have.  If you examine that evidence rationally and critically, you pass right by disappointment and actually become relieved that there isn’t some demon spying on us and judging us for thought crimes.

How lovely, a Mormon. I don't know too much about Mormons - was it Joseph Smith who founded your religion. Did your founder and beloved leader believe in polygamy, and if so, how many wives did he have. Do you follow the King James bible, or did one of your flock, rewrite a new bible.

The King James bible sanctions polygamy and slavery, what do you think about polygamy, and why do some people in your church, and some not, practice polygamy. 

What do you think of the practice of Mormons in Salt Lake City, where a young girl marries an old man, usually with many wives, and turn out the young teenage boys who may be a threat to these older men getting younger wives -

Girls as young as twelve, run away, with nowhere to go, as they don't want to have five children by the age of twenty. Some even run and leave children. 

Can you imagine just how heartbreaking that would be to leave children, that is how much they are driven. Do you think it could be possible, seeing that this is a practice of the Mormon church, and you believe in the same prophet, to take in these destitute, lost boys and girls, under your wing, give them an education, and a real start in life. Your church is making millions, as the Mormon Church doesn't pay any tax, so I am sure you could find it in your heart to mentor these young people, whose only crime was to be born in the Mormon Church.

By the by - I wasn't there when god made his plan - I would have told him it was a silly plan that would never work - women would be subjugated and only thought of as sex machines and incubators - not a happy life for anyone, I would have thought, and the competitiveness of the male - very big flaw in the original design - oops, we really should start again, don't you think?

@Suzanne - Actually, you might be thinking of the Joseph Smith that was a convicted con-artist, impostor, necromancer and charlatan.  But for some weird reason, god couldn't find a single person more trustworthy to convey his "message".  LMAO

But, apparently, he was good enough, because look at how many people were scammed and bought into that crazy nonsense.

@Simon Paynton - Kelly has the arrogance to come onto an Atheist site - I would never have the arrogance of going onto any xian site, and state that what I believe is right and you are wrong - how frigging patronising is that - I feel sorry for this bloke, he is just cannon fodder for yet another - geez this gets boring - xian charletan and con man. People like Joseph Smith and his apologists just laugh their way to the bank. These men, through time, sit around and say 'What esle can we think up to put on these idiots, and these suckers are going to believe it - whilst paying us for the privilege.

Kelly hasn't got guts - he feels superior to Atheists, and wants to put us back in our box.

Kelly's first statement is saying we are wrong - fair enough - but then goes on to say what Kelly believes in - I don't care what Kelly believes or not believe, 'cause Kelly has got to be thick, simply because mormons generally have not done any research on their beloved leader - that is the thing that gets me every time - if I can find out what a pig, what a criminal, what a liar and cheat these men are - why can't they?
