Pokemon is the work of the devil

Pokemon is full of violence, slavery and abuse. I think she is getting confused with the bible.

I'd like to thank that mother for helping create yet another atheist - we will welcome him with open arms --

On the other hand, Pokeman was invented by the Japanese, in an effort to sell more Pokemon games and cards, and when you get them all, they invent more, and you gotta admit, there's something a little devilish about that --*>:) devil

I think one of the things that made pokemon so appealing to kids is that one leaves home at 10 to become a pokemon master, no parents, no school, just exploring and adorable pet collecting.

Every culture has a belief system. Most are socially demanded, meaning if you must decidedly be different you will not find social acceptance--all the way to that social system determining that you should die for your transgressions. Few make any logical sense as they are generally built on beliefs, not progressive logic developed to bring people together and solve the worlds problems.  Regardless, those are the rules. The very fearful obey the rules to the letter while inadvertently creating a continuance of the chaos and hate that bred Christianity.  Others don't obey all the rules but are not openly vocal about it. Still others are progressive and know the rules are not intended to solve problems, so they speak outright against them, in an attempt to sway the believers toward logic and acceptance of reality.

Perhaps a new book needs to be written that will--if followed--tend to move people toward a more progressive, unbiased, friendliness as well as acceptance of others and have it's base in preserving and understanding others, not the current rejection that most societies practice.  Something based in logic and reality, not ancient myths. A true worldview.

I recall my mother having some concerns about the theological implications of Pokemon, as evinced by the theme song:

I want to be the very best,
Like no one ever was.
To catch them is my real test,
To train them is my cause.

I will travel across the land,
Searching far and wide.
Each Pokemon to understand
The power that's inside...

Because becoming "the best" by your own power teaches kids they don't need god; and looking for "the power that's inside" means you don't need god's power, you just look inside yourself for goodness and truth. Even though the series is about creatures which have electrical or fire powers inside of them, and the song seems to be talking about that.

I have seen Christians post on the internet elsewhere saying that Pokemon are demons, and children shouldn't watch the show because it's really about witchcraft and summoning demons to do your bidding. I don't know of anyone personally who believes this, but considering what some Christians say about Harry Potter and all other forms of entertainment...

I personally don't believe Pokemon is a bad thing but I think rather that a guideline of caution from the parent should bring up to their child based on that child's known tendencies.
