I do feel that on average if a persons iq is above average they would tend  not to buy that buttered up bullshit that is religion

Arggh. I do know that people like to think of themselves as above average in regards to intelligence, but I would urge people to be careful in regards to linking intelligence with atheism and vice versa.

Please be aware that 95% of all people think that they are above average in regards to their intelligence. Any person that knows a little bit of mathematics would therefor conclude that most people have to be deluded in regards to their perceived higher (then average) intelligence.

Atheism means without (a belief in) god(s). Nothing more, you can be a complete idiot and you can be an atheist at the same time. In countries where religion is not as self evident (Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium) there is nothing that indicates that atheists are in general more intelligent than theists are. Likewise in countries such as Saudi Arabia and the US it takes one or more of several characteristics to escape from religion, intelligence being one of them, albeit it not a necessary condition. People of lesser intelligence can still escape from religion by being skeptical and/or brave. 

I'm sick and tired of hearing atheists discuss how intelligent "we" atheists are, BS! Do you know that most NewAge hippies in my country for instance are considered to be atheists? Seriously, stop touting your own horn, stop being proud of what you think you are and get real.

I don't buy it. I live around a bunch of good ole boys. A lot never even finished school. I have talked to some of them and they don't buy into the Jebus or religious game. They can be highly skeptical about invisible beings. And you would be mistaken to consider them "slow" or feeble minded; some of them are sharp as a whip. Unfortunately they are a minority as fundamentalist Christianity still "rules the roost" around here.

babies come into this world atheist so proof it is not tantamount to a high IQ.

But on the other hand belief in an inviable super being who rapes maids in order to give birth to itself and then must have itself killed in order to rectify itself to its creations who apparently have hurt its feelings, does imply a weak and deluded mind
