You're lucky - at 4 am, I often don't even know what I'm saying, which would probably be a good indication that I shouldn't say anything at all.
I found this interesting --
You know, in any political campaign, the most important vote is the 'undecided' vote. I think we need to think less about theists and Atheists and more about the people who haven't thought about it. Here in Canada, most people really haven't paid much attention - because it just hasn't been at the center of our political game.
When Gord comes up in a discussion, 1 in ten quote scripture, 1 in ten say hooey, and 1 in ten just say, "Oh well, everyone has an opinion". When I point out that anti-gay marriage, anti-stem cell, and anti-sex ed views are the sorts of opinions that have no basis in reality, I get a lot of heads nodding, and several comments like, "Well I still go to mass at Christmas because my mother expects me and my sisters to baptize our babies" - but I almost NEVER get "Gord is real and you don't know what is real!"
Maybe the U.S. isn't that different from Canada other than Americans being more vocal in general. Maybe targeting the undecided vote is the way to go. Maybe a slogan like, "Are condoms a form of homicide?" I don't know, just something to get people talking without pissing them off and turning them away.
