Comment by SteveInCO on November 16, 2012 at 9:30pm My college lecture halls had two full width blackboards... and then you could push up on the blackboards like a window sash and reveal another blackboard. Not nearly as big as this but it could be intimidating enough.
One professor was able to perfectly fill the blackboard over the course of a lecture, no erasure needed and no space left--he'd often draw an arrow from one part of a diagram to a small whitespace "hole" in what had transpired previously and fill it with a formula or a note of some kind. At the end of the class the board looked like utter chaos (this looks organized). In spite of that chaotic appearance, I found him to be a model of clarity; he was probably the best prof I had in my major.
