Most don’t try to rationalize it, they just ignore it.  Those who you confront will say something to the effect that the devil rules the earth and the pope must take precautions against him.

The simple matter is that most theists fear death because they know that what they believe is really just a crock of shit. And those that actually do believe it and don't fear death, are the kind of lunatics who fly planes into buildings.

I feel with certainty that as a biological entity, no different than a cat or a cow or an ant, that when my cells die then there is nothing. I do not fear this.
