Here's another one for you Ward, where did the olive tree come from that the dove brought back a twig from, to the ark - the earth had been submerged for over a year. Worst case of overwatering ever!

I've become really fascinated by the Noah's Ark story lately.  It was one of the reasons I started looking around for more religious info and discussions and ended up here.

I'm reading the Bible online and I noticed after the flood, when God decides not to do this again, he reasons that man's heart is wicked anyway.  This seems an admission of failure since it was the reason he undertook it to begin with.

It's one of the most ridiculous stories ever told and would be dramatic overkill for a deity.

The thing is Scott, that nearly every culture in the world has a flood story, and theists point to this fact as proof that there was a universal flood. But just because nearly every area in the world has been flooded, there's no indication that it happened at the same time.

Further, marine fossils have been found on mountaintops - evidence again, the theists say, that there was a flood that covered the mountains. But can you envision a clam climbing a mountain, even in a year? And why would it do that, when everything it needs is right there on the sea floor?

The fossils are there because, due to tectonic plate movement, over the history of the earth, every mountain now in existence has been below sea level at one time or another before tectonic pressure, of plates colliding, thrust the mountains up. (An experiment you can try yourself, to prove my point: place a sheet of paper on a flat, horizontal surface, place on hand on each side of the paper, then, pressing the paper, slowly slide your hands toward each other - that portion of the paper in the middle will buckle and thrust up, just as the mountains did eons ago)

Agreed.  I think this story, like most of the Bible stories, is a handed down tale that was exaggerated into what was finally written.

They all got drowned. Some of them as much as eight million years ago.”

Even the history of time has changed. 6000 years seems hardly a spit into the bucket of time.

Yeah, Twain was off by about 57 million years last Thursday, but then he wrote in the late 1800's, so I have to excuse him.

I'm pretty sure it was Thursday - I ran across a T-Rex's Day Planner recently, and it seems to stop on Thursday:

Monday
1. Kill something
2. Eat it

Tuesday
1. Kill something
2. Eat it

Wednesday
1. Kill something
2. Eat it

Thursday

The day planner does not seem to mention if the T-rex was male or female. Since there is no mention of baby training or day school, we will just have to assume it was male?

Arch, such lack of attention to detail....;p) LOL
