yeah... but does that mean if we don't believe then he doesn't exist?? ...to christians?? lol BECAUSE, christians believe that we'll go to hell if we don't believe - correct? lol

Yeah... that's a classic example.  The statement makes PERFECT sense to an Xian (as Allison pointed out) but not in the way it makes sense to us.  It's funny though because I am sure the Xian never meant us to read it the way we did; he's trying to warn us that we will go to hell if we are atheists.  He's so locked into his own context he cannot even *imagine* we'd say "no shit, Sherlock!"

I've heard someone say this to me. I knew what she meant by it and I did have a 'no shit' moment as well. but it sounded like a threat when you understand it as they meant it. after all they're saying that you're going to go to hell and THEN you'll believe.
