Patrick is a troll who is making up lies for Jesus.  Lying for Jesus will get you into heaven , Patrick ... oh yes ... it will .......

Yawn.

@Patrick

Of course, shame on us, not knowing what "contemporary philosophers, noted atheists and free thinks" write. Even though I hardly see why I SHOULD know these guys to be enlightened... While I do know some philosophers theories (or whatever they call it), and I follow a couple of "noted atheists", I'm a man of science. The only quotes I care about are formulas and theorems.

Think about it, Christians not knowing the Bible is like physicists not knowing the Three Laws of Thermodynamics... A reasonable atheist knows both.

Though there ARE ignorant atheists, at least they aren't living their whole life according to a book they haven't read.

Patrick is the only one here with any sense. Theres an extreme lack of critical thinking going on in this thread. Expecting someone to be able to identify a fake quote thats meant to look real from a book thats over a thousand pages long is absurd. Believing that a book is written by a magical sky wizard isn't going to instill superhuman memory in the reader.

If the book, chapter, and verse are cited, anyone can look it up and see that it's not real.  If someone is on facebook already, they can look it up online.  People make mistakes.  It's always good to check the source material.  In this case, at least one of those lines doesn't make all that much sense without context.  What does 'love themselves' mean here?  Personally, I would have looked it up.

1 Tomothy 2:12 (King James Bible)  - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Genesis 9:22 (King James Bible) -  And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

Deuteronomy 23:1 (King James Bible) -  He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

A more humorous tactic would be to quote some of the more vile portions of the bible, but say they came from the Qur'an. Then after people comment on it for a while, you spring it on everyone that it's actually from the bible. At least that way, instead of simply being antagonistic, it would be educational and encourage people to go through and read the bible like a good Christian should.

I find the humor more in the liking anything that as the words bible, christ, or god stamped on to it, than the not knowing that it's fake.

We all do this in a number of ways (liking something because of some sort of associated buzz word).  Marketers love this and feed off of it.

...And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O LORD, bless this Thy hand grenade that with it Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy." And the LORD did grin and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats and large chu... [At this point, the friar is urged by Brother Maynard to "skip a bit, brother"]... And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

"And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow. So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son...."   II Kings 6:28-29 - Sooo, into Cannabalism?

And lusted after paramours there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose emission was like that of stallion" Ezekiel 23:21 NSRV - What does that mean, Daddy?
