Sigh. Why can't an athlete just fucking play and shut the f-up!

Comment by Don Leonard on February 18, 2012 at 12:47pm So thats why god doesnt give a damn about the 9 million children who die every year before they turn 5. He's too busy watching sports.
Don' worry about Lin. The Knicks will miss the playoffs, and he and Yim Tebow can fight the toronto Maple Leafs for a tee-off time.
(Get the idea I'm not a sports fan? BUT.....)
29 days to the start of Formula 1!!!
Comment by Zac Kimmer on February 19, 2012 at 2:56am I do not see what what is wrong with this. He is not even thanking god for his skills or implying that his god is paying special attention to him. It sounds like he is praying to his god through playing basketball. Meh, whatever. He is a basketball player, I do not care what he believes in. Maybe faith will lead him to do something about those 9 million children.
For religious followers, God is always in a winning situation. You see athletes in all sports who credit god in their win, but for just once, I would like to see someone rip god a new one when they lose. It is like when an earthquake kills thousands but one child is pulled alive from the rubble, "praise god." Religious people seem to have an unusual ability to understand and accept the scientific and logical explanation for things like natural disasters but abandon that logic for faith in most other areas of their lives.I think it is this "cherry picking" method that allows for the basis of justification for their acceptance of the specific aspects of the religion they support. In other words their personal interpretation on what the teachings mean. They have evolved from fundamentalist thinking and can now justify their tailored religious beliefs to themselves.
Comment by John Siqueiros on February 19, 2012 at 11:08am Hey Bob - someone did rip God a new one when he lost:
Thanks John, that was something I thought I would never see. Those kind of mistakes could turn a believer into an atheist every time.
Comment by Helena on February 19, 2012 at 5:09pm How sad.
Comment by Robert Karp on February 19, 2012 at 8:09pm @Zac - I find this kind of talk incredibly sad to me. He's not playing the game for himself, not for the people who watch and pay good money to see him, not for his fans, for anyone but god's glory? I have a real problem with that. Submission is dangerous.
Comment by Kristian Ayanna Thomas on February 20, 2012 at 1:49pm So, apparently God thinks that teams winning games is more important than the people dying of AIDS and cancer...he must really have his priorities straight. *sarcasm*
