men write that shit ... hold the men accountable ...

Yes men do that, but if the woman follows it on her own willingly, then she is just as responsible. Being equally responsible means she is equally subjected to questioning and critical analysis of out dated and illogical ideology.

@kOrsan: I have no fucking clue how it really is other than what has been described. For a woman like me who was raised in the US it's very hard to understand. I probably will never understand unless I go to a muslim country myself.

Sadly, as much as it is Stockholm syndrome, it's still her fault too. It wouldn't be fair to stockpile all the fault on the previous generations, because then we'd end up with nothing. There are many people who grew up under either same or even worse conditions than this woman has. I'm sure if you look around the Ex-Muslims group here on TA, you'll find many people who've broken their chains. The fact that she can even post pictures of herself online is evidence that she doesn't have it all that bad. Yes it is Stockholm syndrone, but that does not abolish fault. That doesn't mean it won't anger me. She will be the oppressor once she has her own children.

That being said, now here's the weird part. I never wrote that caption to make a decent point. Remember the very first thing I said in this thread? It was "How and why is this a hot topic?" I discovered this picture while I was surfing the net idly, and it made me mad. The caption wasn't meant to be a profound refutation or argument against her stance. It was a reflection of the anger I felt that moment for people like her, who only aid in the destruction of true equality and freedom.

I thank you Belle, for choosing the tone you did to reply to me. I know I have a harsh tone, but I haven't called you, or even Angela who just made me really pissed, a cunt. Imagine the blood rage that idiot in the picture induced in me. In the comments section here I tried explaining my point somewhat better, even though I never meant for this picture to even become a big deal. Sadly it did, but for the wrong reasons.

And I do not care what people think about me. If I did, I either wouldn't have uploaded the picture, pretended the caption wasn't mine or I would've deleted it once people started arguing with me. I did neither. I don't write the things I write to be cool or edgy. I don't write long posts because I need a kick. It's as I said, I'm surprised people took the caption for more than it was, an angry rant. And I'm not going to pretend like it was a fluke or a mistake. I stand by it, nobody has to agree. To me, the woman in this picture is a fucking asshole. She has a right to her opinion, and I have a right to lambast her bullshit opinion. And more people should do so, in whatever language they choose to use.

@kOrsan: I never thought it would be possible but I think I went from wanting to rip you a new one to wanting to give you a hug after the course of this thread. While I don't TRULY understand because I haven't lived it, I take back my bullshit comments 100 times over and I want to just say YOU ROCK! I think I "get you" and I sense while at first glance I was highly offended and wanted to punch your face in, had you not presented it the way you did I may have remained complacent and ignorant. While I am still ignorant at least I am an ounce less than I was yesterday.

Sorry I just need to clarify this ... So if the woman willingly allows her husband to have sex with her whenever he wants - she is just as responsible - is that what you mean?

Yes absolutely. If the woman is in the kitchen making bread (no pun intended) and the husband yells " SEX NOW" and she comes running in, gets naked and throws herself in the bed, even if she is not in the mood, but only for the sake of following Allah's order, yea she is just as responsible.

But if she truly wanted to have sex then its a different story.  But if she didn't but she was only doing it because that is what her religious doctrine says so, and she believes that is the right thing to do then she is just as responsible. As I said in the previous statement, she is equally subjected to questioning and critical analysis of out dated and illogical ideology.

If she is 13 and illiterate and she is submitting to her husband for sex, there is a lot more things to worry about there than if she is also responsible or not

Angela, we are ALL subjected to Stockholm Syndrome - from the time we're born until we reach an age we can leave home, we are subjected to the identical circumstances that bring about the syndrome - enforced captivity (can't leave home) and indoctrination (our parents trying to instill their value systems within us).
