Yes! I was called 'bolshi' in my young adult life....but mainly that comment came from older men, funny enough. If I had been a boy I'm sure it would of been seen as 'assertive' or 'independent'. It did make me question if I needed to 'dumb down'!

I always told me daughter that girls can be whatever they wanted to be. Turns out she wanted to be an elementary school teacher, mom of three, and Christian.

But it was all her choice which is everything I wanted for her.

@Melvinotis, thank you for sharing that!! Tell your friend I will be placing an order when money allows. There is a little girl that I look out for, my friend's daughter. I saw her recently and the sparkle in her eyes is starting to fade. She is 7. I will tell every mother I know who has girls about your friend's business and urge them to order frequently from her. I SO believe in what she is doing. I wish I had those kinds of subliminal messages growing up. It might have made all the difference....Tell her she is a rock star, lol

@Unseen, there is nothing wrong with being what your daughter is. I'm guessing her quality of life and happiness if probably very high. Good for her and more power to her. Being a teacher has many advantages when you are also a mother. It's one of the few professions that allows you to have the maximum amount of time with your children
