Comment by James Cox on August 11, 2012 at 11:57pm I can not help you with this, but I can understand 'why' another person might wish it. Knowledge is power, and 'knowng', seems to have both a strange draw or sad resignation.
During HS, I paid for counceling to get over my youthful depressive state, based upon the realization of a future change in prospects, a sense that I was ill-prepaired, and that 'God' was not going to be of any real help.
I was a nerd, chemistry and biology mostly, because of my constant readings, one falls upon interesting reactions that are frote with danger and curiosity. During one of our encounter sessions, there was much talk given to suicide. That next week, I brought in chemicals that could be used for a rather painful demise. When it came to my turn, I layed out the compounds, described the reactions, conditions for optimum effect, and then made a suggestion, 'Death is easy, the knowledge for that result is all around us and methods abound. Why not deal with life like it is an adventure, risk and reward, sometimes unpredictable. We come in fighting, should we go out fighting still?'
During the whole session the materials were layed out, and instructions made clear, but no one took me up on the offer. I think my point was made..;p)
I don't know if anyone in that group followed through. I found my hopeful exit, with only mild returns to my unsettledness.
