Actually, that's not so bad...it's the ones who believe it enough to deliberately try to send you there that are the problem....
I'm with @SteveinCO.
One of the hard things for physicians dealing with "hard" cases (oncology, traumatic injury, etc.) is that you lose the fight a lot. That's an awfully challenging thing to deal with psychologically. It leads to a lot of burnout, which in turn leads to poor performance.
A lot in self-defense put up barriers with their patients, becoming more distant as technicians rather than as personally involved.
Right or wrong, sometimes faith can be helpful.
