You mean all this time it's been a misunderstanding?
That's one thing that I don't understand is why does religion hate gays so much. When I had my first encounters with gays in my world, I found them a little unsettling but got used to the notion. But I suppose that my general attitude toward others is different from the tow the line crowd.
Religion gives substance to the fear that many men have over being approached by a gay man. These same men, however, seem to find lesbians a turn on. Go figure.
I think humans are hard wired in their DNA to belong to groups. Belonging to the group and showing loyalty for that group is expected and like I said instinctual. The ego needs to be in the lime light so there is constant competition to be number one. To have a live and let live mindset is not a instinct , it is a learned response. so to hate and shun others that don't believe in your beliefs is a natural state of mind that man has to overcome with intelligence. this was hard wired into us when we were primitive to promote survival for the group. They hate gays because they are different and not obeying their god laws. It also serves as a way to point out a enemy and bring a frenzy to the church people to unite them in their obsurd beliefs making their unity even stronger
It's a matter of anyone doing anything different than the crowd, people will point out anything different than the "norm" even when it doesn't directly affect them and is really harmless they, at least some, will take it as a direct challenge to their world. Try as a guy go to school and wear anything considered "girlish" and see if you can make it through the day without being hassled.
Strega, straight people are also very biased about anal sex.
. we talk about gays and not once did "anal sex" enter my mind. I think of gay people as having same sex attraction. So when you think of hetero sexual what is that association? missionary style? .when I think of a hetero couple I don't think about them having sex, why would I with gay couples? I just think its hilarious how peoples minds work some times
Mark 11:12-14 and 11:20-25
"The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.
In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!” “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered."
Imagine playing Monopoly with someone like that and you were winning.
@Warren - hahahahahahaha
@Korsan - great graphic :)
@ nobody in particular - it's so much easier being a lesbian than it must be for gay guys. The bible is rarely waved at us. If there were only lesbians and no gay guys, I doubt there would be any homophobia worth noticing.
I believe that a lot of the discrimination towards gay men has to do with patriarchy, and the overall association of anything female with weakness, and anything male with power. So if a male gives up his association with the patriarchy by acting "female" (in the minds of those doing the discriminating) he is then fair game for the accepted patriarchal practice of domination, discrimination, and disempowerment. This is just one aspect of the discrimination towards heterosexuals, but an important one, I believe.
