This is brilliantly true..! Can I do it in spanish, If I may?

I tend to disagree.  If we lived in a world where we all had an acre of free space just to ourselves, I'd say go nuts.  In modern culture, however, that isn't the case for very large parts of our society.

Take the smoking example, for instance.  I just moved out of an apartment where the people in the units above, below and beside me were all occupied by smokers.  The previous tenant in my apartment was also a smoker.  Cigarette ash was constantly flying in through my window, making a mess of the sill every week.  Tar kept seeping from the walls, I could smell the cigarette smoke all the time, which means I was inhaling it as well, and supposedly there is an increased fire hazard with smokers (though I'm not sure that last one is entirely true).

The reality is, I can't remove myself from the impacts of smoking even in my own dwelling, so if someone told me "Don't like cigarettes?  Don't smoke one." I'd probably tell them to piss off.

Incidentally, I don't think that smoking should have been banned in that apartment building.  Dealing with that kind of thing is just one of the liabilities of living in apartments and I accept that.  the point is simply that considerations have to extend to the rights of everyone affected by the activity in question.

I kind of agree with your disagreement. All about the smoking issue, I'm not smoker myself and the "Don't like cigarettes? Don't smoke one" did hurt a little bit, I was thinking to skip that part when I translate it to spanish but I don't know if I can. So I rather fortget it.

So by this logic. I should have the right to bang a transvestite hooker in broad daylight at high noon on the hood of my car in the toys r us parking lot, directly across from an elementary school while smoking some meth, injecting heroin and while shooting off a machine gun.

Having the right to do what you want in privacy is one thing, but you still have to conform to the laws of society when you are in it.

Hey Kiley,

I agree with you. What is in question here, imo, is whether or not these rights should exist in principle, not whether or not the manner in which you exercise them should be allowed to disfurnish the rights of another.

So, I believe these are or should be principled rights; however, one does not have the right to exercise them in any manner they choose. This is hard for people to swallow sometimes because it deals with gray areas, but I think this is closer to reality.

The quotes above impressed me as statements only of principled rights, not necessarily about what rights we should have vis-a-vis with how we exercise them.

So, @anonymous, I think its cool to bang a transvestite prostitute on the hood of your car if he or she digs it ... in your closed garage, perhaps. If the two of you did this in front of an elementary school (this is pretty young) and smoked meth in front of little children at Toys-R-Us, injected heroin and fired off a machine gun you would be pretty seriously violating the rights of these children, imo.

@kir komrik. My point being (as i think you agree with) your "right" to do whatever the hell you want is fine so long as it doesn't oppose on others. Your not allowed to do whatever you want whenever you want when it starts to interfere with society. Im all for gay marriages and abortions and such, just wanting to make it clear you cant just do whatever you like, which this photo imply s.
