Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don't be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence.

Got thrown out of a "Holiday" party full of stupidity last December. He would have been proud of me. Later some people told me they were impressed, but where afraid to back me up. I was using a lot of Hitch-isms. Oh well, I ruined a perfectly idiotic xmas party.
Ahh yes ... his letter to Young Contrarians....
Sound advice if your a Bourgeois Libertarian like he is ...
Otherwise forget it because you'll be on your own...
Honestly ... who was he targeting this to because it doesnt work for small people like us.

Comment by Sequoyah Wanei on March 13, 2013 at 8:53pm I disagree with Angela. I've spoken my mind and beliefs most of my life and I still have friends. Three friends from high school and before. And even if you are alone that is no necessarily a bad thing. Many things in life are worse than being alone.
I used to be very staunch but I found that it just gave me a headache.
I dont want to be an angry atheist anymore ... Been their done that.
For me ... I think I like 'less is more' but Im still not good at it ... I still shoot my mouth off too much ...
Comment by Sequoyah Wanei on March 13, 2013 at 10:05pm I agree when you say," you don't want to be an agree atheist". I am not advocating being an "angry atheist". One doesn't have to be aggressive or belligerent to effectively convey a sound and logical argument. Removing all emotion from your debate makes you a much stronger force in the delivery of the atheist point of view. I don't believe you should ever let them engage you on an emotional level because that is the basis of the christian beliefs. If you will not be dragged down to that level they cannot manipulate the argument on their terms.
