ChristianMingle promoting rape?!?

What exactly is ChristianMingle suggesting you do with her once you "find God's match for you?"

...because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days

Well, if I had to 'translate' this to modern day application, I'd say if a guy has sex with a girl and it's her first time, not only does he have to marry her, but divorce is entirely out of the question.  Of course this would mean there were no babies born out of wedlock, so I'm now rather shocked and upset that this religious instruction is not being adhered too.  Shame on you, Christians.

I keep getting ChristianMingle adds on youtube. I think it's because of all the atheist sites I visit being lumped in with the subject of "religion" by Google's ad department. Anyone else getting lots of these?

Yeah I have often wondered why Christians don't follow the levitical law.  Paul talked about grace not nullifying the law but rather completing it.  Just like how the Jews created Yom kippur to avoid having to do blood sacrifices.  If they really felt their particular religious text was the unadulterated word of God then why do they not adhere to it?

Well, I think they might have to do a whole lot of "putting to death" to follow it exactly.

I'm pretty sure Christian Mingle doesn't really pay attention to where their ads go.

The strangest place I saw one of their commercials was during the first airing of the movie "Deadgirl" on Chiller (cable channel). The description from IMDB: "Two high school boys discover an imprisoned woman in an abandoned mental asylum who cannot die." She's a traditional movie zombie who the guys find and then have sex with. Nice Christian values: necrophilia. LOL

5 million members with a "pop" of 30 bucks a month. This website  is not concerned with morals or values. It's the bucks.

I think the most enjoyable part of this passage is, as much as Christians like to distance themselves from Muslims, this is perfectly in line with the Sharia Law tenet to marry your rape victim and the legal concept in many Middle Easten countries that the rape charges can then be dropped if you do.

Exactly Marc!  I'm always baffled when the same government officials who rail against the evils of Sharia law would happily post the 10 commandments in our courthouses.  The fact that there is almost no major difference between Sharia and OT laws never even occurs to them, mostly because most of them have never actually READ the OT in it's entirety :)

Oh but from their point of view, there would be--Sharia is weighted to favor Islam and the OT is weighted to favor Xianity--or so they believe, anyhow, it's more in favor of Judaism in actual fact.  Anyhow that makes all the difference in the world because Xianity is right and Islam is a bunch of barbarians who just happen to act exactly the same in every other regard, as the OT teaches us to act.

Of course, today in practice the overwhelming majority of Xians ignore most of that stuff then claim they get their morality out of the Bible.  (Though they do seem to focus on Leviticus 20:13.)

I wouldn't be surprised...
