Anywhere, in a group or cult, take women out of the equation, and part of the dogma is celibacy, and this is what you get - same with Buddhism. Monks or priests, same old, same old.

Preach one thing, then perform criminal acts against humanity. Disgraceful.

The Dalai Lama sits on the fence with this, and makes contradictory statements, depending on who he is talking to -

"All monks are expected to refrain from sex. For laypeople, he commented that the purpose of sex in general is for procreation, so homosexual acts do seem a bit unnatural. He said that sexual desires in themselves are natural, perhaps including homosexual desires, but that one should not try to increase those desires or indulge them without self-control."

Then there is this - The Dalai Lama is well known for his activism for human rights, and this specifically includes equal rights for gays. According to an Office of Tibet spokeman, "His Holiness opposes violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation. He urges respect, tolerance, compassion, and the full recognition of human rights for all.'

Then you have Archbishop Tutu, a christian who thinks for himself. The Anglican Church has married priests.

Homophobia is a 'crime against humanity' and 'every bit as unjust' as apartheid. We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about; our very skins... It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given.
