I agree, since almost anything you say is going to offend someone.

Including this.

This is disgusting.  Doggone trolls.

OK, just kidding.

You have to TAKE offense.

Nobody can offend you without your permission. When someone’s giving out offense, you have to choose whether to take it or not.

So don’t help them out by taking the massive stinking pile of… offense… they’re handing to you. Leave it in their hands and let them figure out what to do with it.

I think easily offended people fall into one of two categories: 1) those whose self-esteem is low (minorities demanding not to be "disrespected," for example; and 2) those who wish to turn it back on the other party in some sort of powerplay or one-upmanship.

That's a good analysis, Unseen.  I've often seen a mixture of the two in the same person though; I don't think it's necessarily one-or-the-other.

So all that labor and deep thought I engage in to deal with our theists, is for nott, and I should just wish them a nice day, suggesting that other places to 'sell' might be more appropriate?

Sadly this is only barely workable, but worth considering, just before I choose to respond.

Laughs, you seriously think there is a benefit to you to take offense?  You don't need to be offended to communicate with theists effectively - you are perfectly articulate without having to get into a huff.  Being offended is an emotional state of mind that invites a negatively reactive response.  Please don't tell me you find that useful in any way.

Actually no. I had considered not responding to emails, resigning myself to my garden, my lab/shop, taking up my mathematics interest again, taking in philosophy conferences, and renewing my interest in 'having a nice day'. I expect that 'culture' will not decay too soon with my absence.

You see to talk with some authority, are you some newage guru, emailing from some enlightening mountain top? Or another theist that expects the poor atheist to shutup?

James, are those questions for me?
