My aunt's old $10 bill with my new one. I like hers better.... can you tell why?
Because the new one shows signs of blind faith in an unproven deity that should be trusted for no apparent reason.
Is that why?
I think we should remove "In god we trust" from our money, and go back to the motto that was printed on our first form of currency, the continental dollar. It had a motto written by one Benjamin Franklin on it which read, "Mind Your Business" Much more eloquent I think.
The presumption of money
Ooo, oo. Pick me. Pick me! ....is it because the old version harmonizes the elements of movement and balance integrating subject and frame to creating a sense of historical place, while the new version projects the Treasury's flattened facade into a portal which seems to be fighting against the text for control of the face of the dollar? No. oh. : (
I think a case can be made that the word "God" on the currency is a graven image which the ten commandments expressly forbids. In the book of John, the statement is made that in the beginning there was the word and the word was god.
The money is printed by having the words engraved onto a steel plate. (ie graven)
So in my opinion the actual word is in and of itself a graven image. Shove that in your xtian friends faces and see the reaction..
Oh, He Who Lets Children Get Hit and Killed By Drunks While in the Crosswalk, I trust Thee.
The Ten Commandments are graven images themselves. Therefore they contradict themselves.
