Think Atheist Meet-up Washington DC Oct 30, 2010

Hello members of Think Atheist! We have a very special announcement to make:

Think Atheist will be hosting its first ever meet-up in Washington DC on October 30, 2010 from 4:00 - 6:00pm... an hour after Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity! (We will be live video streaming the rally for those that cannot make it.)

We’re announcing this a month in advance to give interested members a chance to plan ahead if they’d like to attend. Jon Stewart's rally should give you a bit more incentive to show up! ;) If you need even more, Morgan Matthew, the network creator, will be there, and we’re hoping to have at least one guest speaker. The purpose of this meet-up is to get to know each other face-to-face and continue working towards a supportive community.

We would love it if you RSPV ahead of time so we know how many to expect. We are meeting AFTER the rally, at the 21st Ammendment Bar and Grill. It would be best if you take the metro into DC instead of trying to drive in and find parking (traffic will be horrible, and parking next to impossible). Take the metro to the L'Enfant Plaza station; it is only a block away from 21st Ammendment.

Our vision is to encourage everyone who is atheist to get involved with changing stereotypes and misconceptions regarding his or her decision to abstain from religion or a belief in deities of any kind. Bigotry against atheism is still very rampant in our communities, our schools, and even amongst family members. Think Atheist aims to give our members the proper tools to fight anti-atheist hate and discrimination.
