Up, up and away to the atheist meetup today. Up so high in the quest for shoe fly pie. Below the spaghetti monster flies by. Me oh my, up so high, never knew dialogue and polemics could make me fly. Be contentious without a clue spewing narratives is what we do. Freethinkers are chimerical tinkers. We are determined and blinded in blinkers.…[Read more]

Jake,
It sounds like a wonderful dish from a beautiful server, but until the steel-plated or vat-grown pancreas arrives in the mail, I could only have a sliver on my plate. I’d savor every crumb and morsel, tho.

Unseen,
I would not have been as charitable to Bernie as that executive. I would have said:
“Bernie, if you want 40 hours pay for 32 hours work, then scrunch 40 hours of work into 32 hours the way that humans have always done it: with labor-augmenting and labor-saving technology that humans invent and create when they are free to use their…[Read more]

Unseen,
If Libertarianism is a “cult,” than it is the most contrary, cussed, cantankerous, contentious, quarreling “cult” that ever existed! Herding Libertarians, much like herding Atheists, is like herding cats.
For one thing, it didn’t begin with Any Rand, who denounced Libertarians as “Hippies of the Right,” even though many Libertarians…[Read more]

Enco, read about adverse possession. It is English in origin and dates back to 1600 or so. It really is contrary to our sensibilities. Or is it further back from the 14th century during the plague years? That would make for a good story. I can’t remember and i aint looking it up. But it is like legal theft.
In usa states have statutes that…[Read more]

Reg,
Continuing, “squatter’s rights” may have made sense at a time when there were actual unclaimed parcels of land on the North American Continent unoccupied even by Indigenous tribes. It might even make sense in a hypothetical Post-Apocalyptic scenario where much of Humankind is wiped out. But with already-claimed, labor-mixed, built-upon…[Read more]

Reg,
The squatters of Beverly Hills.
It doesn’t sound like there are any good people in this story at all.
Nevertheless, the concept of “squatter’s rights” under new laws has been used against hard-working good homeowners and it can easily happen to anyone who has been a victim of Identity Theft who gets their name copied from public…[Read more]

I was wrong. Admitting that makes me strong.
“Shoo-fly pie began as a crust-less molasses cake called centennial cake in 1876, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia. There is no evidence of it being made before the American Civil War.”
Unseen you are given the responsibility of a…[Read more]

Those ingredients in Shoe fly pie make me think it is a war time recipe. Where is the beef?
