About Me:
I'll go ahead and concede that "Hunter Griffin" isn't really my name.
I've been an atheist for about a year and a half now, although I've been skeptical and implicitly agnostic for four years before that. I've "come out" to my best friends and my immediate family-- the latter of which wasn't very receptive. (They are religious fundamentalists who are disappointed and afraid of my 'choice' to disbelieve in God.)
I previously attended a private Christian university under the pressure of my family (I have fiscal needs, obviously), though I managed to transfer to a comparatively liberal school where I now have the opportunity to more freely express my non-theism and converse with other non-believers.

Why are you here?
Given that I currently live and attend school in the Bible Belt, I feel like I haven't had an opportunity to really meet fellow skeptics/atheists/nonreligious people. I'd like to use this site to network with said members as well as to be exposed to more information for use in debates and discussions with people near me.

Why you left your religion.
The general lack of evidence substantiating the Christian religion certainly propelled me toward atheism. This applies to all religious faiths.
Furthermore, when I studied other religions out of curiosity, I noticed that they suffer similar problems.
Also, even as a young child, a lot of the stories seemed immoral to me-- the story of Adam and Eve; the Tower of Babel; as well as Uzzah and the Ark of the Covenant, in particular-- and caused me to be skeptical about God's paradigmatic Goodness.
