I went from fundamentalist Christian (Pentecostal... yes, I have spoken "in tongues") to new age beliefs to my now skeptical, rational, agnostic atheism and Secular Humanism. I was born and raised in Texas but now live in California. Poet, photographer, executive producer of The Road to Fallujah, half of Incarnate Muse Press (we've edited and published two atheist poetry anthologies as well as other themed collections), vegan, hiker, & mom of a teenager.
Wow, well done. We've been working on ours and my son had a big DNA profile done. Most of my markers point to northern Ireland. I've been to Garland a couple of times, but I try not to get too near Dallas without a dire need to do so. Dee and I escaped Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2003 after living in the midst of 7-million people got to be toooo much for me. We're both from small town Eden, NC.
Here we can't even see another home from ours, which makes us, our horses, goats, dogs and cats very happy. We even live off of a dirt road, it's quiet, no sirens, fire horns, boom boxes on wheels, etc
Is that your son with "The Amazing One" himself? When we live in Plantation, Fl we were about 1-mile from his home and I was a volunteer at the JEF for the last three years we lived there. I shuffled Shermer, Plait, and several others from the FL airport for the first Amazing Meeting in 2003 in Plantation. I even had the pleasure of setting in on the Webcasts from the JREF and always present for the 4th Thursday Open Forum discussions there, great fun! I never had the pleasure of meeting Paul Kurtz however.
