Congrats on the feature, Dallas! Very much deserved. :)

    Hey, Dallas. :)
I just joined the group, Atheist Horror Fanatics. Do you have a group that you started here on T|A?
  • Sydni Moser

Hi Dallas, Thanks for the link, I'll definitely post it. Don't you even want to plant an herb garden on your windowsill? That's all I've got, and a few scraggly indoor plants that my cat likes to push off the ledge. I know you enjoy cooking when you have the time, fresh herbs are great to have on hand. I do hope to have a garden by next summer. There is nothing like a home grown tomato.

I haven't watched this, I need to, but it might give some good hints on how to embed multiple videos. An aside, I like your photography. This is one of my favorite animal photos. It's Peter like and I think that this one was close to 4g's. My wife and I had to talk ourselves out of it even at that price.

  • Gaytor

Peter Lik... like must have been automatic for the fingers.
  • Sydni Moser

Dallas you make me laugh... It isn't enough that you keep with your many groups on TWO sites, but you help me out with the few groups I run. You are a wildman!!! Thanks, really so sweet of you. <3
  • Sydni Moser

Hi Dallas, thanks for joining ESCAPE. A fantasy I think most all of us have at least from time to time. I have no idea exactly what to expect of this group, I got a bug-up-my-butt for this idea late last night, and just blindly made it up. You are so good at this that I do hope that you can offer me some tips here and there. Anyway, it should be at least fun to think about escaping this hard cruel world, if never a realistic opportunity!
  • Sydni Moser

This formulated for me because my daughter FINALLY found a job working in a discount retail outlet - Ever hear of the chain, Tuesday Morning? Anyway, she has led a life of leisure up until now, never really wanting for much and not having any concept of what it takes to earn a buck. She hated her job after the first day. All those hours on her feet, no break, lots of boring repetitive stuff to do, and lots to learn as well. A complete and utter waste of good time and her energy. She'd so much rather be home watching old Dr. Who videos, or texting her friends.... She said she'd rather live without, and never have to work... So it got me to thinking about alternatives to the work-a-day world. I spent years escaping this reality when I was a penniless hippie. Had to finally come to terms with the real world, go to college, earn a degree so I could work a decent job...

Hi Dallas, thanks for that great link... I hope I have a chance to post it a bit later today. I don't know how you can possibly keep up with all your groups on A/N AND T/A? You must be a 'speed demon,' because I'm struggling to keep on top of the much fewer groups I have here. I'm busier at home, but try to get up early to do as much posting as I can before I'm off and running. It's tough. then it's catch as catch can during the day. Hope you are doing well. Peace buddy!
  • Sydni Moser

    Hey Dallas,

Do you know about this >> Texas GOP Official Platform Calls for Imprisonment of Homosexuals a... - 20 June 2010 I posted the article in Current Events.

Pretty horrifying! Texas is the WORST STATE!
  • Sydni Moser

Haha... That was mighty quick. Sick country, you are right. My daughter just got back from visiting a friend in Kansas, 'ain't' any better there either. Glad that we are moving to a little oasis in this backward nation... Need the company of sane humans.
  • Gaytor

Dallas, I've removed at least five pictures that were put up of young women that involved nudity. I'd tell you which ones but I wouldn't even allow a screenshot to get close to my computer of it. These women were clearly under age and while it may be a cultural norm where the photo was taken, it's too close to that Child Pornography line to dance next to on TA. If there is any question about the age of the person, we'll expect that you will error on the side of caution. Gaytor
  • Samuel H. Kenyon

No problem. Hopefully I'll learn something.
  • Sydni Moser

    Hi Dallas,

Thank you so much for posting that beautiful video on my page... You know my tastes well and the music was delightful.

    Do you know this surrealist?

Hey I'm looking at the vid you posted in the approval process. Can you put NSFW on it so we don't get someone fired? I love the little girl, "Don't fuck with my two gay dad's" That's awesome. You can say that the NSFW is for language so it doesn't scare anyone off that might enjoy it.
  • Gaytor

Dallas, The Terminator Parody had already been posted so it wasn't approved. Sorry that I always seem to be the bad guy. Our online timing must be in sync.
  • Gaytor

It was just under Terminator Parody. I went through the vids six months ago hacking at the dead links and dups. I just knew that it was there because of that week long excursion. Thanks for searching for it! Get Down!

    Hi Dallas,

Yes, it's been too long since we've been in touch. Miss you <3 Not into xmas? Well, for me it's a Winter Solstice celebration. Having grown up with Hanukkah, it's a foreign holiday to me in many regards. But I love decorating a tree and giving presents, so I've taken to celebrating those parts. The commercial buildup is intense which really turns me off, but the feeling of good-will is something I enjoy indulging in. How are your pups doing? Busy at work? I'm recovering from a bad bout with my ulcer.... And it was BAD, but I'm making progress. Getting old is not fun!
  • Don

Yep, same Don. I bailed out one morning in May when I woke up too early with a bad cold and feeling angry at myself for spending way too much time the day before patiently trying to convince some jerk on A|N of his error concerning something meaningless, and, consequently, for not giving enough time to my own work. When I still couldn't keep myself from wanting to carry on with various A|N dialogues, I told myself it was time to go cold turkey, so I committed A|N suicide. I have regretted my leap into the abyss since then, for all the ties (and really good dialogues) that I severed and lost, and I probably wouldn't do it again; it was unlike me, a saver by nature. (TA is a lot more relaxed, if duller, for some reason.) But I did manage to spend more time on my new novel, POLLY AND THE ONE AND ONLY WORLD, a 700-page epic YA fantasy set in a much diminished, post-oil, post-cataclysm, future America--the Christian Protectorates, a theocracy run by evil evangelicals (the "gels"). The hero is Polly, who is 15 and a true witch who has been sent by her father to live among the gels in New Florida for her own safety, after the govt. initiates a purge of the outlying regions (Vermont, etc.), where she and other pagans, heretics, gays, Jews, freethinkers, and so on had been exiled long before. At the start of the book, she is summoned home by her familiar, a raven named Balthazar. It's a sort of American GOLDEN COMPASS, but edgier. And it will be very controversial if it gets any attention at all--because the atheists are the good guys, and the crazy villains are the fundies. I just finally finished it last week, and after a polish I'll be sending it to my agent. We'll see. Here's to Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar!
  • Steve M

    Dear Dallas;

I don't like the format where you can't respond to someone directly on a forum or blog so since I want to direct the comment to you I will do it here. You know I get that there are thoughtful liberals but my experience whenever I have commented on this site or over at A/N in a conservative vein it has been a bit of a "Dogpile on the Rabbit" effect if you get my meaning. It got so bad over there that I took down my profile for 6 months. I tell you in all honesty that I felt  as intimidated taking anything that resembled a conservative approach to a conversation that I just stopped commenting. It felt like I was in church and that is no exaggeration.    I hate to go back  to hiding   my true feelings but they seem to incite so much visceral animosity no how mildly I couched them that I don't feel comfortable expressing myself.    I hope you understand I have always found your comments and blogs to be very enlightening.  My comment is just a reflection of my personal experience so far.

    Many Thanks

    Steve

  • Bill Lewis

Yep that was me. I started a book discussion group on RR and it all went well for about a year, then it began to fill up with kids and crazies. I was happy to get an invite over here with you folk. What a great site this is.
  • Aaron A

yes the video is audio only and the black video is to emphasize the emptiness of death.
  • Robert Karp

Thanks. Neslon another moderator pointed out the first post was in the welcome section and wasting in the form of a question. Thanks.
  • Scarlette Blues

    Thanks for the link!!
  • Michael Frazier

Thanks! And yes I will go and change that now.
  • Michael Frazier

Not a problem, happy to be here.
  • Scarlette Blues

Thanks! It is my original work so I'll add my name to it! :)
  • Heather Spoonheim

Thanks for your advice Dallas.  Someone already ripped off my TamTamPamela coverage on another site.  The latest entry only took 6 hours to write, but if it does get ripped off then I would like my name to be in there.
  • Mr. Anderson

    Thanks for the explanation.

Good to know about the tags too :)

  • Monica Salcedo (Monicks)

Thanks, DG. I'm glad you liked that video, it's quite telling and even inspiring...
You're right, I don't think self-promotion is appropriate, and it definitely feels better when someone else finds your content worth featuring so, Thank You!
  • Michael James Blackman

    Thanks Dallas :)
  • Heather Spoonheim

Thanks Dallas, it seems to be a very reputable club.  I had a chance to look at the list of featured members and it became readily apparent what it meant to be a featured member, for many of the names instantly popped out as those whom I recognized as having made memorable contributions to the discussions and blogs.
  • idcollapse Ra

thanks for the advice , Right now my internet connection sucks ... !! as soon as it gets better , i will start on working on that project .

      thanks so much

  • idcollapse Ra

    you are welcome
  • Heather Spoonheim

I believe that Yeah is form used for "hooray", and that yea is the opposite of nay, although the Scots use aye in place of yea.
  • Tara

Thank you! :D And thanks for the helpful advice!
  • Robert Karp

Ok but Neslon keeps telling me to put the entire article on so which should I do? I just want to make sure I'm following blog rules.

Insofar as the moderators roles, besides the description what else is involved?

  • Robert Karp

Not trying to start shit but here's what he told me:

    hey Robert, me again. lol.

i edited your blog post to include the full article at the link instead of just having "check out this link".

we try to make it so that members can stay on site if they wish to, being able to read the full article without having to click away if that's what they want to do. obviously the link should be included for attribution but for safety and security- malicious websites, NSFW stuff- we feel it's best to do it this way.

    thanks for understanding!

    -Nelson

So I'll go with your reccomendations Dallas and post a snippet with the link to the article. I also want to be clear because if i'm the moderator I want to be up on the rules. So sure, I'll handle the hitch group.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Bill Lewis

I started the RR about a year or two ago, but it got so full of kids I stopped posting there. Then I was invited to another site for former Reading Room members. I visit most of the Infidel sites and have seen many of your posts and admire your ability to hit it on the head with posts about current topics. I recognized your icon immediately. I am a real dunce with the computer age, I am barely computer literate. So don't get mad if I can't find my way back very often.    :)
  • Michelle Willette

    Thanks for the warm welcome!
  • Michael R Mills

Thanks for the welcome and the handy link/hints. I'll be lurking a bit and probably won't post a lot.
  • Manny Espinola

Thanks for the welcome. I'll take a look-see for a while to case the joint, see if there's anyone with similar delusions of competence as me. So I can upgrade delusions and stand out. For starters I want to finally have my own blog, something I've been planning and wanting to do for quite a while now. I mean I had my first computer in 1984, an Orwellian Commodore 64, an XT in 1988, a pentium in 1997 and first taste of cyberspace in 1998. In short, how do I go about contructing my blog?
  • glea sutterfield

Oops! Sorry, but I intended to follow through and actually take the first step. Evidently I must have wandered off somewhere
  • glea sutterfield

    I like your page.
  • Christie D

Thank you Dallas! I hope to be seeing you around.

  • Gaetano

    Thanks for the welcome :)
