We need an atheist U.S. President!

I am actually British, but you'd have to be a bit naive to not care about the American presidency. An atheist president would really be a step forward, and it's ironic because the majority of the founding fathers were deists, not Christians.

I just wish other countries would catch up - especially America, which has taken us to war, and sent the world into recession - we used to have a male christian bootlicking prime minister, and now Australia has an Atheist Female, living with her boyfriend Prime Minister. She still has an opposition party stymying what she wants to achieve, as does Back Obama. When a country has an atheist leader, it's not all it's cracked up to be - a huuuuge disappointment. Having an atheist leader doesn't achieve all one would wish, but it is still better than a jump for jesus.

There are some baby steps being taken towards this - just a few weeks ago a core of atheists started a new political party. Just last week the political platform was ironed out and they are looking for all sorts of volunteers. Please remember though that this is a fledgling party that is just starting out and that there is a lot to do before it really takes flight.

i would jump for the chance to vote for an atheist, of course his issues would have to be similar to mine but the point is it wont happen very soon. the us is mostly christian, 80% i believe, and not only that but our religion and state is so intertwine that i think there is still debate whether evolution should be taught in schools. our system is completely out of tune and to fix it would most likely take a complete social collapse, and even after that many people will most likely cling to the old system anyway because most would fear change.
