I'd say welcome but I already kinda know you now. Which is good. Anyway, I have some ideas for threads here I'd like to run by you in another post. I'll get to that today I hope ;-)

I like that term Sarah.  I think I'm a free-thinking Christian as well, even though I don't believe in (or rather, care about) the existence of God.  I sign up to Jesus and I sign up to the essence of religion.

kk - the two "sides" have a lot to learn from each other.  I've come to the conclusion that a single system doesn't cut it - we need to take the best from all of them.  Just as it's healthy to have both socialists (or liberals) and conservatives within a single government, because no one group has all the answers. 

3-4 years ago I met a wonderful Christian woman with great integrity and courage and she opened my eyes to how cool the whole thing could be.  This lady has been helping me with my project.  Mixing cultures is always beneficial.  Look at the intense creativity of the popular music scenes in both the US and the UK - it's all because of mixing the black people and the white people. 

Almost all atheists don't understand religion in my experience.  They see it from the outside but not the inside.  This includes those I see who have de-converted.  I think there's no need for people to de-convert - just to get things straight.  We can help with that. 

I've been greatly enriched and made happy through studying what the different religions have to say.  Through experience, I know it can be highly worthwhile, and possesses something which atheism doesn't have, in a formal sense. 

There are people like Jesus in real life.  I know one right now who lives up to all the ideals.

Quite true. Over here even Elvis was heavily influenced by Blues and Jazz music. What about the UK? Who influenced the Beetles? I'd think it was a similar thing, with maybe one or two more levels of indirection, but really similar.

Simon, I think you would make a great devil's advocate (no pun intended) for adherents on the deconversion thread. No, you don't have to deconvert anyone, I just mean you could be the neutral party in philosophical discussions there. That is so hard to find and so valuable to any discussion, deconversion or not.

Hi, my name is John Michael "Micmic" Custodio, i was a baptized Christian Catholic, I grew up in a religious place, studied my secondary level in a catholic school, i'd been choir member too, a but still curiosity in my mind made me a doubter, i'm not saying that i am a non-believer, maybe i was on the stage of searching for what really I am, should i believe or not to believe.,

Thanks Kir, that's a great compliment - of course.  I'm always up for a bit of neutral no-allegiance philosophy. 

I'm no expert on music history, but I believe The Beatles took a lot of inspiration from Elvis, while The Rolling Stones were heavily influenced by the blues.  London is a furnace of creativity, musically.  It seems to churn out a new genre every week.  We have the grand traditions of rock'n'roll, punk, reggae, house/techno etc, all interacting like mad.

Hi everyone, I'm an atheist but I have respect for all, and I want to get along with people and care about them regardless of their beliefs. I was baptized in the Catholic Church, but my mother converted to Mormonism when I was very young. I became an atheist after searching for truth my whole life. I think I've found it, but I will never stop searching. I like the idea of combining the best of our ideas, and making something wonderful out of it like musicians do. I'm also a great fan of comedy and sometimes I make light of serious things cause if I don't laugh I will cry. I have a bit of a potty mouth but I can respect the no profanity rule especially since we have the edit function!
