Why can't we (veggies) post one blog about our lifestyle without one freaking meateater uttering the phrase "I eat meat because it tastes good, so don't preach!" Ugh!!!!!! Sorry I really needed to vent that out.

@Araina ... the transition to a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is different for everyone ... but once on the path its a great ride down a "slippery slope" ... best slide of my life ... here is Los Angeles we even have a "vegetarian/vegan" hiking group ... over 1,000 members and we have probably the largest group that attends the annual Worldfest ... Now onto food ... Tofurky Beer Brats, I served them to friends with out telling them they were vegan ... now when they come over they ask for them ... good luck, go to youtube for recipies ... tons of ideas .... steve

Ever since I went to New York for the first time and was handed a booklet on the treatment of animals in the farms I wanted to be a veggitarian.  But it's hard.  I am poor and veggie foods and organic foods are more expensive.  Also I am used to eating meat.  But recently I have been trying to get healthy so I'm eating more fruits and veggies.  I kept nagging myself to care about animals enough to stop eating them when they suffer so much.  I haven't eaten meat in 3 days, and i don't miss it yet.  I hope I can work my way to becoming a vegan. I am extremely empathetic and can't even stand and won't kill insects.  It hurts me that I contribute to the slaughter and torture of innocent animals and I want to change.  But it's hard, but in the long run I can't lose.  I've been eating lots of Kashi products and other meat free foods and they taste so good I almost don't notice the difference.  Not only am i eating healthier and losing weight, I'm also helping the animals.
