I proudly use the word Vegan to discribe myself. I am happy that I took a stand against wasting resources and the abuse of animals and humans. If that causes someone else discomfort or stirs guilty feelings so be it. I also am honored to use the word Atheist. I do not try to hide my position with phrases like " I 'm not very religious." So far I have received more curiosity and praise than hatred.

Dennis, I'm with you... I wouldn't shrink from stating firmly that I'm a vegetarian, or once I finally make it to being vegan, I'll be even more proud to announce my ethical stance. But unlike you, I have been confronted by many, many angry meat eaters... When I first was exposed to this backlash of hostility toward vegans and vegetarians it confused the heck out of me. I do think that this video explains rather well why so many meat eaters resent those who refuse to cause needless suffering to our fellow earthlings...
