Do you guys know what's the difference between a film and a movie? A film has more depth and a movie is just entertainment? Is that it?

I think that "film" is a technical term for a medium (8mm, Super 8, 16mm, 35mm...).  ie What a "movie" is shot on.

I know this is a really old thread, but anyway, film and movie are interchangeable terms. Though "movie" is the same kind of term as "talkie." So, "movie" is a shortened version of "moving picture."
Thanks for replying in spite of this being an old thread. So far, these terms have been used randomly, and I can't figure out any other difference between them.
