Comment by Curly Girl on October 25, 2011 at 10:15pm This is the End of the Trail. My great grandmother was Choctaw and on the Trail of Tears at the ripe old age of 1. Her name is listed in the Dawes Final Rolls of the Five Civilized Tribes. Under that is Bellatrix which is latin for female warrior along with my fave bird of prey, owl, and then of course the symbol for Humanist. I am also part Irish and adding a celtic knotted dolphin to arch over the top of the circle on my shoulder. To honor my German heritage I am adding the word Krahe which is crow, my fave corvid, but I don't know where yet. And then around the humanist symbol I am having the outline of Africa to honor my African American heritage. This all just on my arm:-) I want more stuff on my back. Right now I have a tramp stamp which is the Japanese kanji for strength. Ink is so addictive!

Comment by Niki Liu on May 21, 2011 at 4:32am I have a garden snail on the back of my right shoulder. It has two meanings. One is to commemorate the time I spent in China, the last six months of which I rescued two snails. It also reminds me to remember that the littlest of our planet's creatures are important and awesome in their own way.
I plan for my next tattoo to be a peacock across my lower back. Growing up I spent a lot of time at my grandmother's house and in her front entry she had painted a mural of peacocks underneath willow trees. I always loved that mural. One of my cousins lives in the house now and he doesn't seem to care about the mural as he has covered it up with photos of his children. My grandmother is 91 and I hope she will live long enough for me save the money to get that tattoo. That will probably take a few years since I don't have money to spare right now.
