I find the series to be so well made that it seems to newer get old. Besides the role of Sherlock my favourite character is Mycroft Holmes as played by Charles Gray - he is excellent!
As do I. He's a great Holmes, and Gray is a great Mycroft, too. I've only seen Gray in a few things, but he's well suited for the role, I think.
What I also find interesting is how many different actors can interpret/portray Holmes in so many different ways.
Permalink Reply by Great Dane on September 9, 2011 at 2:29pm Yes - but I must admit when I watch the other Sherlock actors I always get a bit disappointed. They just don't present themselves as eccentric nor analytic as Jeremy Brett did.
Agreed. Brett has an affectation that is probably the most unique. I saw one movie with Rupert Everett, and he was quite disappointing. The production was nice, but he was a wet noodle.
Jeremy Brett had such a unique smile, and there were times I actually wondered if he had ever taken ballet because of how carefully he would step or dance over something he was looking at one the ground. The series (miss him so much) is one we have on DVD and use with our kids to teach them observation, and how to be still and slow down and 'look' around you.
It's possible he did some kind of dance. A lot of actors have to learn how to dance, or play an instrument, or some such.
