The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, read by Edward Hardwicke

I have recently picked up these unabridged readings of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes as read by Edward Hardwicke, whom you may remember played Doctor Watson on the BBC series during the late 80s / early 90s.

They are absolutely great. It’s hard to find people who are really, really good at reading, or even worth listening to.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read at least one Doyle short story (“The Grey Ones,” perhaps?), and I’ve seen a lot of the movies and TV shows as well as listened to the radio dramatizations, but I don’t think I’ve actually ever read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories. Now that I’m listening to them, I can really see how well-written they truly are.

I’m attaching tracks 1 – 6 of “The Adventure of the Devil’s Foot” for you to sample. Here are the CDs on Amazon.com.
