I found a couple books that seemed necessary reading for atheists scrounging Barnes and Noble and Borders near where I live.  Not only did I find The God Delusion but a book called Bogus Science(about science quackery) and a book called 101 Myths of the Bible(still sympathetic to the Bible but illustrates how much of it was borrowed from surrounding legends) and another book I forgot the name too about the problems with monotheism.  Can anybody else recommend other books for the atheist?

Probably books on humanism and philosophy. But actually I prefer to read fantasy myself. XD
Well, the Bible is the best fantasy that there is! Or if not the best, at least the most widely known. ;) I like Sam Harris' philosophical writings, although I know some people have qualms with his discussion of rational spirituality.
