Hi everyone! I just joined today and this is my first post. I'm looking forward to some great discussions on religion from all perspectives, be it social, psychological, or political. I'm currently reading 50 Reasons People Give For Believing in a god by Guy P.Harrison. If you're looking to get into the mind of a believer, this is a great place to start. I'd highly recommend it to anyone remotely interested in multiple perspectives. If anyone has already read it, I'd be interested to know what you think.

Thanks for the recommendation and welcome to the site.
I enjoyed reading this book, the similarities between all of the different religions was quite striking.
Thanks, will add that one to the next batch to order and read, been eyeing it for a while.
I heard Guy Harrison being interviewd on a podcast (SGU, I think?) about this book.
Have you read "religion explained"? It's a fantastic examination of why people believe in religion
As a matter of fact, I have. I had a friend recommend it to me a few years back. It was required reading for and anthropology course he was taking at Brandeis. Boyer's book, along with the one I brought up as a topic and Dawkin's "God Delusion" round out my top three must-read books on religion.
