Someone more famous than I has probably expressed a thought I like, but I don't know her or his name.
I don't have the time to think my way to all of the conclusions life requires, so I sometimes accept unsupported beliefs. But, dammit, there are beliefs that are too ridiculous to accept, and religions have most of them.
Christians want me to accept god as my dad, i ask them for a paternity test and they blow stuff way out of proportion....... I don't have daddy issues but i think their god has kid issues; i just don't want nothing to do with that.
“I am not even an atheist so much as an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. Reviewing the false claims of religion I do not wish, as some sentimental materialists affect to wish, that they were true. I do not envy believers their faith. I am relieved to think that the whole story is a sinister fairy tale; life would be miserable if what the faithful affirmed was actually true.... There may be people who wish to live their lives under cradle-to-grave divine supervision, a permanent surveillance and monitoring. But I cannot imagine anything more horrible or grotesque.” Christopher Hitchens
“Many religions now come before us with ingratiating smirks and outspread hands, like an unctuous merchant in a bazaar. They offer consolation and solidarity and uplift, competing as they do in a marketplace. But we have a right to remember how barbarically they behaved when they were strong and were making an offer that people could not refuse.” Christopher Hitchens
“Being a Humanist means trying to behave decently without expectation of rewards or punishment after you are dead.” ― Kurt Vonnegut
“Religion has convinced people that there's an invisible man ... living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you. He loves you and he needs money.” ― George Carlin
"I learned that very often the most intolerant and narrow-minded peo..."Christopher Hitchens
"Not one man in a thousand has the strength of mind or the goodness ..."-Samuel Taylor Coleridge
