Christianity set itself the goal of fulfilling man’s unattainable desires, but for that very reason ignored his attainable desires. By promising man eternal life, it deprived him of temporal life, by teaching him to trust in God’s help it took away his trust in his own powers; by giving him faith in a better life in heaven, it destroyed his faith in a better life on earth and his striving to attain such a life. Christianity gave man what his imagination desires, but for that very reason failed to give him what he really and truly desires.

I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road

For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written.

We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable.

Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god.

We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war.

We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.

"Since religion cannot hold on its own merit, it uses the state to prop itself up. Some say I confuse religion and the separation of church and state, and say that religion is really only a problem when it meddles in the affairs of politics. In fact, religion almost ALWAYS meddles in politics - it always has and it always will, because, again, it can't stand alone."

"Most theists don't understand that the separation of church and state benefits them, because it preserves their freedom to change their mind. Indeed, the only real beneficiaries to a merged church and state are the preachers in the majority religion and the politicians in their pockets."

The following quotes are from the UK National Secular Society's weekly E bulletin.

"The only way — and I mean the only way — that the Catholic Church is going to change its stance on [the child abuse] issue, or indeed on any issue, is if Catholics vote with their feet, and get the hell out of there."
(Greta Christina, Alternet)

"Many believe that the US population is steadily becoming more religious – but this is an optical illusion. Many evangelicals have simply become more aggressive and more political."
(Barry Kosmin, Trinity College, USA)

[Anton Lavey - The Satanic Bible] [Addressing Christians]

"I question all things. As I stand before the festering and varnished facades of your haughtiest moral dogmas, I write thereon in letters of blazing scorn: Lo and behold; all this is fraud!

No creed must be accepted upon authority of a "divine" nature. Religions must be put to the question. No moral dogma must be taken for granted - no standard of measurement deified. There is nothing inherently sacred about moral codes. Like the wooden idols of long ago, they are the work of human hands, and what man has made, man can destroy!

He that is slow to believe anything and everything is of great understanding, for belief in one false principle is the beginning of all unwisdom."

Our Earth is degenerate in these later days; there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end; bribery and corruption are common; children no longer obey their parents; every man wants to write a book and the end of the world is evidently approaching.” — From a translation of an inscription on an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E. I'm just sayin'.(Via Bart King.)

"I have no faith and that is accounted evil; but the world if it is saved will be saved by men of goodwill of much thought and of little faith... Faith stops thinking, and thought is the root of life without which we become beasts, faith is surrender and dependence and becoming children again, it is refusing to accept the unimaginable variety of truth and the unwillingness to pemit another his variant. Faith stops progress, and legitimizes murder..."
