Even as a child, 75 plus years ago, I considered these bible stories as 'just stories' like Hansel & Gretal, etc., only much meaner.

"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, burning bushes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?"

- Mark Twain

If God is willing to prevent evil, but is not able to
Then He is not omnipotent.

If He is able, but not willing
Then He is malevolent.

If He is both able and willing
Then whence cometh evil?

If He is neither able nor willing
Then why call Him God?

The most potent virus most of the people are unaware of, and silently eating us dead is religion. Stop infecting yourselves. If not for today, at least for the future.

In religion we believe only what we do not understand, except in the instance of an intelligible doctrine that contradicts an incomprehensible one. In that case we believe the former as part of the latter.

... our theories are INSTRUMENTAL, are mental modes of ADAPTATION to reality, rather than revelations or gnostic answers to some divinely instituted world-enigma.  Wm James, Lectures on Pragmatism

Truely there is something a little ghastly in the satisfaction with which a pure but unreal system will fill a rationalist mind.   Wm James

Citing the bible as proof of anything is like reading a comic book to prove the existence of Superman.
